Dampit Guitar Humidifier

I purchased the Dampit Humidifier at the very first guitar humidifier for my solid wood guitars. This is one of the most easiest to use humidifiers that is very effective as well. It is very simple to install this unit in that all you need to do is to place your guitar in its case and clip the unit to the top through on the side of the sound hole. You can then install the plastic sound-hole cover if you wish to attain a great efficiency of humidify your instrument.

After charging the humidifier with water, you ought to wring or shake excess water from it to prevent staining the unfinished surfaces of the guitar interior. The directions for implementing this are clearly stated in the accompanying directions.

Although there are many more pricey and elaborate guitar humidifier systems on the market, but if you are looking for a simple, no hassles, and inexpensive way to eradicate humidity related guitar repairs, pick up a few of these great little humidifiers.

Dislikes: The humidity measurement system that comes with the unit is not very accurate and can give you false security as to what is really going on with your humidity levels. An in-case hydrometer system is the best possible humidity monitoring system, such as the Oasis OH-2.

The Humidifier by Planet Waves

This is a very simple guitar humidifier system as well. Just take the included plastic syringe, fill it with water and drip it into the humidifier. Be careful so as not to overload the sponge or overfill the reservoir as this can cause leaking from the unit into the unfinished wood of your guitar. By using this humidifier, moist air will travel through the entire case, exposing your entire guitar to humidity.

Dislikes: In my estimation, trying to load the sponge just a few drops at a time is rather irritating. I additionally found it rather inconvenient to stick the unit between the strings, which can throw your guitar slightly out of tune. Also with this as many other systems, there is not a reliable method (or any) for checking the humidity levels and this is some very important feedback that you need.

The Guitar Humidifier by Herco

In my search for a great humidification system for my violins and mandolins years ago, I came across this great little humidifier. This unit is very compact and effective is will fit virtually anywhere in your guitar case.

All it is is a plastic container that is filled with some clay that is water absorbent. Because of the small size, it worked fantastic for my smaller instruments. If you wish to use them for your larger instruments, such as a guitar, I would suggest using 2 of them for better results.

The best method for charging these little units with water is to drop them in a cup or jar filled with water and let them soak for a while. 5 minutes is minimum and preferably longer. Take it out, wipe it off, and pop it in your case! Just do this every few days. My experience has shown that his little humidifier will keep your solid wood instruments humidified and will not leak if not overfilled.

Dislikes: This is a humidifier only and does not include a hydrometer. You should couple this product with a outstanding hydrometer such as my favorite - the Oasis OH-2.

Oasis OH-2 Digital Hygrometer with OH-2 Case Humidifier

The Oasis OH-6 and OH-2 is the only guitar humidifier in this group that is a combined system that will give you the ideal combination to keep the humidity in check within your guitar case. This system will easily deliver the ideal humidity levels of between 30% and 40% throughout your guitar case, which means the humidity will be distributed to all parts of your guitar. Also you can monitor and make adjustments to the humidity levels by checking the hydrometer readings.

Armed with a clipping system this unit can be clipped in many selectable locations within your guitar case. Couple the fantastic virtues of this humidifier device with the digital hydrometer that comes with the system and you have a one-two punch that is hard to beat. I genuinely like this system wide approach to humidity control and I have not had a single problem since using them with my guitars and heartily approve this system for any guitarist.

Dislikes: This system has worked flawlessly so I have no dislikes.
